Husband, dad of two. Dr Who geek, I love the ‘classic’ series and Tom Baker but I can’t make up my mind which is my favourite story. I’m an all round Sci-fi junkie SG1, SGA, Babylon 5, Star Trek, Firefly etc. My favourite author is Iain M Banks, I met him once he’s very funny, The Wasp Factory and Use of Weapons are my favourite books.
I’m interested in computers & gaming, I love my iPhone. I like astronomy and have a 130mm reflector, which I use whenever I can. I also like geology and rock collecting for which Cornwall is fantastic and films.

Second, concerning your comment on the “orbital elevator”, I not so sure we will ever see an orbital elevator as the challenges are extreme. Remember that you would have to move materials through a lot of trash in LEO to Geo-synch. Changes are high that an orbital elevator would be struck during its lifetime. Maybe leading to total loss of elevator and materials. However I am not qualified to access such risks. I would love for you to do a “guest post” over at The Europa Files.net on the subject.
